Nootka Roses are native to the PNW extending from Northern California into Alaska. They are not a heavy perfume rose but a sweet natural rose appreciated for their scent, beauty and red rose hips that last throughout the wintertime. Salmonberries, which are also in the rose family, are found throughout the PNW and are the first berries of spring. Their watery tart/sweet flavor is reminiscent of rhubarb. NW dogs love salmonberries too and eat them right off the bushes!
